Description:  Obverse: bare head of Gaius l. Reverse: Vesta, veiled and draped, seated l. on ornamental throne, holding patera in r. hand and long transverse sceptre in l.

The Pontifex Maximus, now the title of the pope, was the chief priest of ancient Rome. Tribunician power meant that Gaius could call an assembly of the people, sit in the Senate, veto any law, and that his person was sacred and inviolable.

Inscriptions:  Obverse: C•CAESAR•AVG•GERMANICVS•PON•M•TR•POT• (Gaius Caesar Augustus Germanicus, Chief Priest, [holder of] Tribunician Power)
Reverse: VESTA / S C (Vesta [goddess of the hearth] / by permission of the Senate)
