Large two-handled fineware cup of pale buff clay, with reddish-black paint decoration. Substantial misfire to exterior surface. Interior and exterior of cup painted brownish-black. Exterior reserved areas to the lip, which is painted with three separate series of vertical lines; two reserved areas beneath and to the underside of the handles; and two large reserved panels on either side of the body, filled with geometric motifs: cross-hatching, diamonds, meanders, vertical lines. The diamonds are cross-hatched on Side A, but filled in and surrounded by dots on Side B. The underside of the foot is decorated with a swirl of paint. Restored, with some areas partially reconstructed with plaster. Colour: fabric 10YR 7/4 (very pale brown), paint 5YR 3/2 (dark reddish brown), 2.5YR 5/6 (red). Cup with two horizontal handles, geometric decoration in red / brown paint, cross hatched angular and diamond shaped areas, linear. Painted dark brown inside. Labelled on base 'Rhodes 1900 V34'. Paint is well-preserved but pot has been restored from fragments.
