These 'wando' (trousers) are made from imported cream ribbed cotton. The hand-embroidered ('mai surfani - with embroidery) design is chain stitched with imported rayon and cotton thread in tones of red, green, blue, yellow, orange, black and white. The draw string is made in plaited leather with a loop at one end and a leather tassle of multicoloured strips at the other. It was collected in N. Cameroons before 1928.
