This Djerma (Burkinabe) cloth has been woven on a men's double-heddle narrow loom. It is composed of six strips of white hand-spun cotton yarn with widely spaced indigo warp stripes and with supplementary weft-float patterns (including conventionalized human figures) in red, yellow and grey green machine-spun cotton and hand-spun indigo yarn. It was probably bought in Ghana between 1920-1940.
