These 'wando' (trousers) are made from imported cream ribbed cotton. The hand-embroidered ('mai surfani - with embroidery) design is chain stitched with imported rayon and cotton thread in tones of red, green, blue, yellow, orange, black and white.

The draw string (BIRRC-D0342.2) is made in plaited leather with a loop at one end and a leather tassle of multicoloured strips at the other. It was collected in N. Cameroons before 1928.
