BIRRC-D0133(1).jpg

This painting uses rich earth tones and coarse brush strokes to reflect a crossover between Nigerian tradition and Western artistic influence. The artist, Clara Ugbodaga, studied in London in the 1950s and was on the staff of the Nigerian College of Arts, Science and Technology in Zaria during the late 1950s. This painting was lent by H.A. Lidderdale in 1968, then acquired by bequest in 1992.
