The flaring and elongated shape of Chinese wine beakers is thought to have been inspired by other elaborate cups that also had tall stems. The distinctive shape of Chinese wine beakers was easy to reproduce in a variety of media. Porcelain versions, used as vases, were shipped throughout the world in the 1600s. These inspired variants made in European potteries, including Worcester, Stoke-on-Trent and Meissen. |
