The medal depicts the King Edward VII and Queen Alexandra in relief, surrounded by the inscription. Is attached to a bronze crest of the University. The crest is backed with a pin so that it may be attached it to clothing. Reverse of the medal has second inscription on scroll, with a small relief of the Aston Webb building.

Inscriptions / Translations:  Front: 'EDWARDVS.REX.ET.IMP.ET.ALEXANDRA.REG.1909'
Reverse: 'TO COMMEMORATE THE OPENING OF THE BIRMINGHAM VNIVERSITY 1909'

Notes:  This medal is an example of many produced for the official opening of the University of Birmingham in 1909 by King Edward VII and Queen Alexandra.
