BIRRC-D0349.jpg

This Yoruba textile is of the 'sanyan' type. Traditionally produced from the silk of the Anaphe moth, the silk loses its shine during processing and the result is usually a pale beige colour. This piece is composed of light and darker beige warp stripes. There is a light beige ground weft with supplementary weft patterns in darker beige. It was possibly bequested by E.H. Duckworth in 1972.
