Description:  This piece has been woven on a man's narrow-loom in imported machine-spun rayon. It is composed of fourteen narrow loom cloth strips (9.5 to 10 cm wide). The green and blue warp, with balanced weft in red-crimson, gives a 'shot silk' effect. The supplementary weft-float motifs associated with kingship (including tortoises, insects, spiders, combs, anchors, forks, leaves, keys, crescents and stars, and diamond shapes) are coloured in orange, yellow, green, crimson, pink, blue and white rayon. There are yellow rayon zigzag supplementary weft-float patterns at each end. Like Ashanti Kente, Ewe Kente is used on occasions of importance and also as a form of historical and religious dialogue. This cloth was collected at Agbosume in the Volta Region 1955.
