This painting shows a single house on a street corner, indicated by the two separate road signs on its front and side. The charcoal sky and pavement reflect an almost bleak urban setting, highlighted further by the dark figure standing in the doorway, possibly a man. Peter Brook is a Yorkshire born artist who depicts local scenes, derelict buildings and images of snow covered Yorkshire as a focus for his work. He often includes his dog and even sometimes himself in his paintings as a mark of originality. This particular piece is signed on the reverse.
