Description: Obverse: Laureate head of Domitian Reverse: Minerva holding spear and shield, with owl at her feet. Domitian was particularly dedicated to Minerva, in honour of whom he founded a college of priests. Domitian was granted the name Germanicus in AD 84 following his successful campaign in Germany. Domitian continues to use the republican titles which were the constitutional basis of the secular power of the emperor, Tribunicia Potestate and his religious authority, Pontifex Maximus, as well as holding the consulship, the senior republican magistracy. Domitian is also titled Censor for life. Censor was the most honoured republican office. It could only be held by those who had already been Consul and was usually a five year post. The Censor revised the tax registers, citizen roles and membership of the Senate.
