Description: Obverse: Bust of Julian, facing r. draped, cuirassed. Reverse: standing soldier, cuirassed, cloak billowing behind, with spear in r. hand and shield in l. hand, stepping on shield, spearing soldier riding fallen horse, raising a hand. Inscriptions: Obverse: INP IVLII…ΔVS NOB CΔBJ (Imperator Julian most noble Caesar). Reverse: FEL TE.O RVPARΠTIO (re-establishment of the prosperous times). Mint mark: CFLC (mint of Lugdunum). Bibliography: RIC VIII 198 Notes: There seems to be a spearhead appearing from the bottom right, pointing at the soldier's leg on the reverse that should not be there. |
