Description: Obverse: Head of Constantine, wearing rosette diadem, draped and cuirassed, facing r. Reverse: Two soldiers, in military attire and helmeted, standing facing each other with one standard in between, holding reversed spears in outer hands and leaning on shields with inner hands. Inscriptions: Obverse: CONSTHNTI-NVS MHX HVC (Constantine, Greatest Augustus). Reverse: CLOR-IH EXERC-ITVS (To the Glory of the Army). In Exergue: CONSS Bibliography: RIC VII 137 var. Notes: According to RIC, the CONS[A] in the exergue of the reverse are mintmarks indicating Constantinople. As opposed to the RIC type, this coin is a half-follis. |
