Description:  Obverse: Head of Gordian, wearing radiate crown, draped and cuirassed, facing r. Reverse: Virtus, helmeted and in military attire, standing frontally, head facing l., resting r. on oval shield set on ground and holding vertical spear in l.

Inscriptions:  Obverse: IMP CAES M ΛNT GORDIANVS AVG (Imperator Caesar Marcus Antonius Gordian Augustus). Reverse: P M TR P II COS P P (Head of the College of Priests, Tribune for the Second Time, Consul, Father of the Fatherland).
