Eldest son of Constantine I and his second wife, Fausta, who was crowned Caesar in 317 and became emperor of the western part of the Roman Empire from his father's death in 337. He died trying to claim lands from his younger brother Constans I at Aquileia in 340, whereafter his section of the empire passed to Constans I.
