Name:  Henry I of Cyprus
Brief biography:  King of Cyprus 1218-1253, succeeding as a minor and only coming of age in 1232, before which he had spent two years as captive of Emperor Frederick II (1228-1230).

Henry succeeded to his father Aimery of Lusignan's kingdom of Cyrpus aged only eight months, and his mother Alice and her uncles Philip and John of Ibelin ruled as regents until 1232. Henry's childhood was eventful;' he was crowned in 1225 and taken prisoner by Emperor Frederick II in 1228, only being released in 1230. Once in power his reign was peaceful. In 1246 he was regent for King Conrad of Jerusalem. Henry married three times, but only his third marriage, to Plaisance, daughter of Count Bohemond V of Antioch, produced issue, in the form of a son Hugh who succeeded his father aged only 1 month when Henry died in 1253.
