Provenance:  Whitting 542 - A. H. Baldwin May 1956 (from pre-1939 stock) makes note that it could be a western counterfeit, but logs it as Phocas coin.

Description:  Obverse: Bust of Phocas bearded facing wearing chlamys and cross crown, holding cross in r. hand. Reverse: Cross potent on three steps.

Inscriptions:  Obverse: AH FOCΛS PЄAP ΛVC (Our Lord Phocas eternal Augustus). Reverse: HC<ORIA ΛVҀЧ= (Imperial Victory). Mint mark: COHOB.

Notes:  Was used as part of 'All That Glitters…' project.
