Sir Walter Barrow, LLM, FSA, was president of the Birmingham Chamber of Commerce and Industry in 1929. He was Pro-Chancellor from 1933-9.

Reginald Eves studied at the Slade School, and set up as a professional artist in the early years of the twentieth century. He became sought after as a society portrait painter, and was an official war artist during the Second World War. His portraits of Thomas Hardy and Max Beerbohm are in the National Portrait Gallery.
