Newspaper article concerning 'Birmingham Natural History and Microscopical Society' from the Daily Gazette. Report of the annual meeting of the Birmingham Natural History and Microscopical Society. Professor W. Hillhouse, the retiring president, delivered an address on the present and future of science teaching in England, with special reference to botany. Hillhouse said that 'biological science based on observation and experiments in botany was one of the most suited to school teaching, and would, if properly taught, be found to be of inestimable value' and that 'from a botanical point of view, the last fifteen years or so had been fraught with great results in our national education movement'. |
