Ceramic beer mug with blue Chinoiserie transfer design of three mounted hunters with tiger concealed in foliage. Transfer is repeated on both sides. Single handle. Floral transfer around inside of rim. No maker's mark, but same transfer appears on work by Jonathan Lowe Chetham of Longton, 1841-62. Mug belonged to grandfather of donor, Alfred Devey of Marshall Street South, Sparkbrook, coal merchant. Coal business was started in 1911.
