Eduardo Paolozzi (b. Leith, 1924) was a distinguished artist and teacher, whose work is represented in public and private collections throughout the world. Paolozzi is an omnivore - his vibrant imagery, culled from the cinema, comics, mechanics and a multitude of sources is instantly recognisable and engaging. He was a leading figure in the Pop Art movement, which brought fresh ideas to art in Britain in the 1950s and 1960s. Among his many public commissions are the glass mosaic at Tottenham Court Road Underground Station and the bronze doors at the Hunterian Museum, University of Glasgow. His colossal figure of Newton is sited in the forecourt of the new British Library at St Pancras.

Eduardo Paolozzi was awarded an Honorary DLitt by the University of Birmingham at the 1996 Summer Degree Congregations.
