Victorinus was a successful commander under the Gallic Emperor Postumus, and had Postumus's successor, Marius, murdered to avenge his erstwhile benefactor and take his place as emperor. Victorinus was murdered himself by one of his officers for personal revenge or love rivalry in 271. He was deified by order of his mother, who survived him, and who promoted his successor, Tetricus I. |
