Name: Napki Malka Brief biography: Ruler of the Nezak Huns, sixth century. Nationality: Hunnic Occupation: Ruler |
|
Napki Malka is the name commonly given to a ruler of on of the Hunnic groups who settled in the Afghanistan region. The name is based largely on the coins issued by him (NaZKa MaLKa). From hoard finds, it seems likely that he was a contemporary of Khusrau I (531-579). Both 'names' may have been titles, but while Malka is a the most common Middle Persian word for 'king', NZK prefigures other usages, and it may be this individual King's personal name that gives rise to the term used for his group: the Nezak Huns. |
