Description:  Obverse: Facing bust of Justinian, wearing cuirass and plumed helmet with pendilia, in r. hand globus cruciger, on l. shoulder shield with horseman device, cross in r. of field. Reverse: Cross above.

Inscriptions:  Obverse: DN IVSTINI ANVS PP AVC (Our lord Justinian, emperor in perpetuity). Reverse: M (40). ANNO XIII (Year 13). Mint mark: CAR. Control mark: S (Second Officina/Sixth Officina [Translation disputed]).
