Bouran (sometimes also called Bourandukht) was a daughter of Khusrau II who survived the massacre of Kavadh II by being female. She was crowned in the politically tumultuous aftermath of her father's deposition. Unlike her sister and successor, Azarmidukht, who appeared on her coins as a man, Bouran appeared on her coins with long braids and beardless, indicating her feminity. |
