Blue cotton A-line skirt with two bands of cutwork lace above hem. Back opening with steel hook fastenings and hand-sewn eyes. Machine made. Cash's name tape inside waistband, with ' F. M. Nettlefold' embroidered in red.

Owner was Frances Mildred Nettlefold, daughter of Edward Nettlefold, b. 1894, lived at Penryn, 23 Somerset Rd, Edgbaston. Donor's grandmother Alice Mary Rose Davis was a laundress based at 160 Park Hill Road, Edgbaston. It is possible this laundry served the Nettlefold families locally. A Mrs Haughton is listed in Margaret Nettlefold's diary (WBN.D.2.8) as a laundress in Park Hill Road - Alice may have been involved in the business. Skirt could have been passed on to Alice or another domestic servant at the laundry by the Nettlefold family.
