Wooden chair with leather back rest and seat. Small metal castors on each leg. Their are two wooden arms, with leather rests on the top. The arms and back of the chair are built up on slim vertical wooden posts. The top of the chair has an intricate carved pattern.
Notes: This is one of a set of chairs made for the Council Room of the University in Edmund Street. These chairs were subsequently divided amongst the Professors at Edgbaston and this one belonged to Poynting. They were identical except for the flowers in the decoration at the top. For many years it was in the Office of the Head of Department of Physics. Almost all the others have been lost.
