This satchel is an example of Hausa leatherwork. The main body of the bag itself is buff in colour and is patterned with cross-hatching. The lid or flap of the satchel is thonged and plaited in tones of buff, red, black and white leather. There is a fringed leather strip lining the edge of the lid patterned with the same sort of hatching as on the main body of the bag, only this time in stripes. The handle of the satchel is plaited red leather. It was presented to the Danford Collection by Sister Evelyn Bellamy in 1968.
