Rectangular silver box, engraved on front ‘The Silver Box. Sept.26th 1906’. The box has a leather underside and a ‘checker-type’ pattern on the silver top and sides. The inside of the box is wooden and divided into two sections by a piece of wood. The box contains 21 cigarettes and a label reading ‘The Silver Box. The original cigarette box used in the first production of the play of that name in 1906 and inscribed on the lid as such’. The inside lid of the box has been marked with pencil ‘Virginian Turkish’.
