Two women walk together on a beach, their heads down and hands clutched together in sorrow. The effect achieved by the woodcut is to break up the shapes of the women and landscape. This print was made as war broke out and the women have been related to the two Marys that often appear mourning Jesus in Christian crucifixion scenes.
