Three quarter length painting of a man standing slightly to the viewer's right while looking towards the front. He is wearing black robes with a silver trim over a dark grey suit and navy tie. One arm straight and one, his left, against his lower chest. Darker pannelled background.

Three quarter length portrait, the sitter turned slightly to the right and looking at the viewer, with his right hand on his lapel. He is wearing an academic gown and hood. Professor Adrian Brown was born in Burton-upon-Trent and from 1899 to 1919 was a Professor of Brewing in the University of Birmingham's School of Brewing and Malting. He served on the National Products Commitee of the Royal Society during the war and held his post at Birmingham University until his death. Bernard Munns, was a Birmingham born artist who, although he exhibited most of his work in London and Paris, he spent a large amount of time painting in Birmingham.
