BIRRC-D0360.jpg

This textile has been woven on a man's double-heddle loom. It is similar to D0359 but made from fourteen strips (10 cm in width). The strips are identical, as for D0359, but one outer strip is of a plain weave in reddish-tan (apart from a sewn-on piece (4 cm) of the balanced weave 'flecked' cloth (warp: black. weft: orange)). It bears striking similarity to D0359 and although it is most likely Ewe it is possible that it could have been made in Togo or Benin. It was presented to the Danford Collection by Sister Evelyn Bellamy in 1969.
