Handwritten letter from H. S. Thompson to Professor Yapp regarding his will and his collections of herbaria. Thompson says that he will "certainly" leave Birmingham's Botany Department his collection of Continental (Howering) plants and his British and Continental collection of Pteridophy (??) too. Very possibly the British collection of Chauerogams (?) will also go to the University and thanks Yapp for his kind appreciation of the possible value or use of his herbarium at Birmingham University. Agrees that the National Museum in Cardiff may have more chances in the future than Birmingham, but that Cardiff has no claims upon Thompson's collections, though he is a little interested in the place due to the new museums, galleries there etc. Thompson says that the late Prof. West had asked him to make it clear that he was leaving his books to the Botanical Department, not the University of Birmingham. Says he will send Yapp the letters from Hillhouse and West on the subject, but for Yapp to return them as Thompson collects autograph letters of botanists and biologists. Thompson will send a rough list of his botanical works (books and papers). Speaks of Bagnall's herbarium again. Talks about his career at Cambridge and various other things. Letter spans six pages. Paperclipped together with WBHERB.HST.L.95.2 onwards.
