Brass elephant presented to the Birmingham University Retired Member's Association (Founded 1971) by the former Vice Chancellor Professor Sir Robert Aitken in 1994. It was later mounted on a wooden base with a brass plaque. It has frequently been displayed at formal meetings of the Association such as the AGM. At the dissolution of the Association on 27th April 2016, it was resolved to donate the elephant to the University Research and Cultural Collections.
