Fragment from the left hand side of a ceramic flask(?), originally taking the form of a standing bird. The clay is buff coloured with red linear decoration on the outer surface.

Notes:  This distinctive fragment from a bird-shaped vessel was discovered in Tomb 66 of the New Kingdom cemetery at Balabish. A drawing on the accompanying tomb card is labelled as 'fine red qulleh clay, feathers red'. A published line-drawing (found on Plate 25 of the excavation report) helps to confirm the provenance of this item at Balabish. The reference 'WAIN.13' has also been written onto the piece, which referes to Wainwright's own numbering system for his private collection.
