Description: Fragment from the upper part of a faience vessel, with remains of five rows of rishi (feathered) decoration in blue on white ground on neck, a single row in white with red detail on blue ground at shoulder, and white on blue petal frieze below. On reverse in neck portion, impression of reeds and string. Collector Marks: on back of sherd is the number 1765 written in pencil. Cultural Significance: high quality two coloured faience with incised patterns and in colours of blue and white are distinct and known datable examples come from the reign of Amenhotep III. Excavated examples come from the tomb of Amenhotep III (KV22) and from the site of Malqata, Amenhotep III's royal palace on the West Bank at Thebes.
