BIRRC-D0379.jpg

This woman's 'Dutch' wax-print cotton blouse has been machine-woven, with a square collar and short sleeves. The random wax pattern is coloured in mid-blue, overprinted with insect motifs in red and dark blue. The random wax pattern is obtained by placing wax resist on the areas of the cloth that are not to be coloured when the cloth is dyed. It was presented to the Danford Collection by Sister Evelyn Bellamy in 1969.
