This blanket has been woven using sheep's wool in weft-faced strips, with stripes and extra weft patterns in red-brown and black on a cream-white background. It was originally woven in the inland delta area of the Niger. The Madube are a group of the sedentary Fulbe. It was acquired by John Danford in 1943, who lent it to the Danford Collection in 1966. It was purchased in 1975.
