A circular bronze medal attached to a pin via a purple ribbon. The pin which attaches the medal to clothing is capped with a bronze crown which attaches itself to the medallion via the ribbon. The ribbon is rectangular, and tapers to a point at which it connects to the circular medal. 'ER' is stitched into the ribbon in yellow. The medal itself is a little larger than a fifty pence piece and shows a raised image of both King and Queen with the inscription ''King Edward VII . Queen Alexandra' R.L. M.B Ld'.

Notes:  This medal is an example of many produced for the official opening of the University of Birmingham in 1909 by King Edward VII and Queen Alexandra. It was designed by G.F. - Mint, Birmingham Ltd (Ralph Heaton & Sons) and made by M.B Ld - Mathew Perry Boulton Ltd (Grandson of Mathew Boulton, Soho Mint).
