Commemorative medal in Depicts the royal couple in relief, surrounded by the inscription. Is attached to a bronze crest of the University. The crest is backed with a pin so that it may be attached to clothing. Reverse of the medal has second inscription on scroll, with a small relief of the Aston Webb building. The medal is in a soft leather pouch, brown in colour. It has a flap with a brown metal button to close it. A gold 'G' is on the upper-left of the flap. Inscriptions / Translations: Coin front: 'EDWARDVS.REX.ET.IMP.ET.ALEXANDRA.REG.1909' Notes: This medal is an example of many produced for the official opening of the University of Birmingham in 1909 by King Edward VII and Queen Alexandra. |
