BIRRC-D0436.jpg

A woman bowing before a tree.

Another brass statuette shows a woman reaching out towards a tree as if to pick something from it. This figurine, as well as the similar one above, comes from the Bamileke culture in Cameroon. The woman's hair is designed to mimic a royal headdress called either Ndam Tcheu Dop or Tcho Dung Dung, and is a commonly reproduced style on statues from this culture.
