On a purple ribbon with a pin attachment. The medal itself has pin attachment on the back. (Obverse) Shows a golden Pegasus flying over a cloud with a purple background. (Reverse) Gold with the centre inscribed ‘John Galsworthy Elected C.M 1929’. Around the outside of the medal in purple enamel and gold lettering is written ‘American Academy of Arts and Letters’. The medal is held in a black leather case (probably not original), which closes with a button and has an insert of blue velvet, now loose from the case. |
