Bevrijding van gent medal dated 6/9/1944. Presented to Robert Antony Eden in a brown presentation box with gold insignia. Inscriptions / Translations: TO THE RIGHT HONOURABLE ROBERT ANTHONY EDEN M.C., M.P. WITH DEEPEST GRATTITUDE Notes: Translates as 'Liberation of Belgium' produced to commemorate the liberation of Belgium from four years of German occupation during WW2. Allied forces entered the country on 06/09/44 but not completed until 04/02/45 when all German forces had been expelled. Eden was Foreign Secretary 1940 - 1945. |
