One of eight such caskets known to have survived complete, and carved with scenes alluding to the theme of love. Here the lid shows a tournament; the front Aristotle and Phyllis, and Pyramus and Thisbe (twice); the left side, Tristan and Iseut, and the capture of the Unicorn; the right side, the knight, Enyas, delivering a maiden from a wild man of the woods; the back, four episodes from the adventures of Gawain and Lancelot.
