Handwritten letter from H. S. Thompson to Professor Yapp saying that he is shortly going to have a fresh will drawn up. Under the old one, his British and Continental herbarium, botanical books and papers would go to the University of Birmingham (Botany Department). Thompson now thinks that the herbarium, both British and Continental (in separate cabinets) had better be bequeathed to the National Museum of Wales at Cardiff, as their collections of dried plants are extremely limited. On the other hand, the late Prof. Hillhouse, a friend to Thompson, wrote to him in December 1907 and in January 1908, explaining what excellent collections had been acquired by the University and their other dried plants. Thompson has 3 letters dated 1910 from Prof. West which included West's intention to have some flowering plants in the university. Thompson says that the number and value of Prof. Hillhouse's dried plants left to the University was considerably exaggerated in the press (Birmingham Post). Speaks of Bagnall's large herbarium in the National History Museum which confirms Thompson's belief that the best thing to do is to bequeath his collection to the National Museum of Wales, as several of his Cardiff relatives are interested. Asks Yapp for his opinion of whether Cardiff is most deserving of Thompson's collections. The letter spans four large pages in total.
