Description: Medal struck to commemorate the opening of Birmingham University, 1909, bearing the heads of King Edward VII and Queen Alexandra in profile on obverse, and on reverse the inscription 'TO COMMEMORATE THE OPENING OF THE BIRMINGHAM UNIVERSITY 1909'. Gilt copper, made by Birmingham Mint. Metal ring threaded through hole in the top, with red, white and blue striped ribbon attached. Issued to be worn by attendees.
