Shapur III succeeded Ardashir II in 383. His reign saw the partition of Armenia between the Romans and Sasanians. After an otherwise unremarkable reign Shapur died in 388, reputedly crushed by a tent whose strings were cut by the nobles, though this seems like a typically colourful apocryphal from the Shahnamah. |
