Name:  Agrippa
Brief biography:  Trusted general and son-in-law of Augustus.
Nationality:  Roman
Occupation:  General and politicaian
Date of death:  12 BC
Place of death:  Campania

Agrippa was a plebian who rose to become one of the great generals of Augustus. Despite his humble origins, Augustus married Agrippa to his daughter, Julia, by whom Agrippa had various children, but most notably Agrippina Major, through whom Agrippa was the ancestor of Caligula and Nero. His marriage to Julia is sometimes taken as a sign that Agrippa was being favoured by Augustus as his heir. As the patron of the temple which was replaced by the Pantheon of Rome, Agrippa's name appears in the inscription there, as on various other buildings he patronised around the Empire.
