Thekla was the eldest daughter of the Emperor Theophilos (829-842) and Theodora, and, as such, elder sister to the Emperor Michael III (842-867). She appeared on the gold and silver coins from Constantinople during the regency of her mother for her brother, as well as a rare solidus of Theophilos from Constantinople.
