A Helmholtz resonator is an empty vessel with a hole in its wall. It will resonate to sound waves at a particular frequency that depends on its volume. We have a set of 12 lacquered brass resonators appropriate to a series of musical notes, from lower C at 128 Hz to upper G at 768 Hz.. They are roughly spherical with short tubes drawn out to holes on opposite sides. The smaller holes could be placed to the listener’s ear, while sound enters at the larger hole.
It is not clear whether all the resonators belong to the same original set. They are mounted on wooden pegs on a wooden board which may be modern.

Inscriptions / Translations:  The resonator G1 is marked Max Kohl Chemnitz. The others are not so marked
